Year 9 Mainstream and Enrichment

Learning Objectives:

  1. Recognise the basic headings used in a scientific investigation i.e. Aim, Method, Results, Conclusion
  2. Understand the difference between an “aim” and a “hypothesis”
  3. Be able to write an aim or a hypothesis for a specific investigation
  4. Practise writing a detailed plan for an investigation which numbers in a logical manner the steps that must be followed
  5. Practise taking measurements when doing an investigation
  6. Practise collecting and recording data in a neat, logical table
  7. Practise graphing results (data) using the appropriate type of graph (line or bar)
  8. Practise taking information from data tables and graphs
  9. Write conclusions which relate findings to the purpose of the investigation
  10. Practise evaluating investigations to identify errors and improvements.
