Year 9 Mainstream and Enrichment

Learning Objectives:

  1. Recognise the basic headings used in a scientific investigation i.e. Aim, Method, Results, Conclusion
  2. Practice writing an aim (purpose) or an hypothesis for specific investigations
  3. Practise writing detailed plans for investigations that clearly show the steps that must be followed
  4. Practice listing all the variables that may affect a particular situation
  5. Be able to identify the dependent and independent variables for a given investigation, and those variables that must be controlled
  6. Practice collecting and recording data in a neat, logical table
  7. Practice graphing results (data) using the appropriate type of graph
  8. Practice taking information (interpreting) from data tables and graphs
  9. Be able to present a report which discusses findings and how they relate to the purpose of the investigation
  10. Be able to identify improvements and errors in an investigation
  11. Carry out objectives 1 – 10 for two specific investigations.
