Year 9 Units

Learning Objectives:

  1. Discuss the range of knowledge included in Science and why we learn it.
  2. Develop a time line of some of the major discoveries in Science.
  3. Establish the rules for behaviour in a laboratory, with emphasis on safety.
  4. Learn the rules for drawing scientific diagrams.
  5. Be able to recognise common laboratory equipment, and use it appropriately.
  6. Realise that the particles in solids, liquids and gases are arranged differently.
  7. Describe the changes of energy when matter is heated or cooled
  8. Use the terms - melting, evaporating, condensing, freezing and subliming – to correctly describe changes in state.
