Learning Objectives:
- Discuss the range of knowledge included in Science and why we learn it.
- Develop a time line of some of the major discoveries in Science.
- Establish the rules for behaviour in a laboratory, with emphasis on safety.
- Learn the rules for drawing scientific diagrams.
- Be able to recognise common laboratory equipment, and use it appropriately.
- Realise that the particles in solids, liquids and gases are arranged differently.
- Describe the changes of energy when matter is heated or cooled
- Use the terms - melting, evaporating, condensing, freezing and subliming – to correctly describe changes in state.
