Year 11 is an option course and provides a general introduction into the world of Electronics. It is a Level 2 course and is spread over two years. All Unit Standards offered are internally assessed.

Of the 14 credits offered in the first year:

• 5 are gained by the theory standard US 18240 covering basic components
• 3 are gained by the practical standard US 18242 covering construction of a printed circuit board
• 6 are gained by the practical standard US 18243 covering construction of a prototype from a given schematic.

Once achieved, students will receive a Certificate of Achievement qualification which is the first step towards taking an apprenticeship in Electronics.
