Learning Objectives

  1. Describe the differences between sexual and asexual reproduction
  2. Describe the advantages and disadvantages of asexual and sexual reproduction
  3. Label the parts of a flower and describe the functions of each part
  4. Explain the steps in the process of sexual reproduction in plants
  5. Explain the steps in the process of sexual reproduction in mammals
  6. Label the parts of the male and female human reproductive system
  7. Describe the function of each of the following organs: Testes, scrotum, penis, vas deferens(sperm duct), ovary, uterus, fallopian tube(oviduct), cervix, vagina, placenta, umbilical cord.
  8. Give the meaning of the following terms: Puberty, menstruation, menopause, ovulation, conceive (conception), gestation (pregnancy), semen, fertile, ovum, gamete, gonads, fertilisation, zygote, embryo, foetus.
  9. Identify where in the reproductive system fertilisation is most likely to occur.
  10. Discuss an issue involving reproduction, using bioethics.
