10.1 Practical Investigations

Learning Objectives:

  1. Know how to set out a scientific investigation
  2. Be able to write an aim (purpose) or an hypothesis for a specific investigation
  3. Write a detailed plan for an investigation which clearly shows the steps that must be followed.
  4. List all the variables that may affect a particular situation.
  5. Identify the dependent and independent variable for a given investigation, and which variables must be controlled.
  6. Collect and record data in a neat, logical table.
  7. Graph results (data) using the appropriate type of graph and interpret (take information) from the graph
  8. Present a report which discusses your findings and how they relate to the purpose of your investigation.
  9. Identify improvements and errors in your investigation.
