The Science Faculty at Hamilton's Fraser High School is one of the largest faculties in the school. We have 16 classroom teachers and two technicians and operate out of 15 laboratories. This includes two senior Chemistry laboratories, one senior Physics, one senior Electronics, one senior Biology and two specialist Horticulture / Agriculture laboratories.
 
Our staff are dedicated professionals who share a love of science and of teaching. They are a mix of youth and experience who are a strong cohesive team. Our 2008 results in the junior school show how well our team is performing with nearly all our academic targets achieved.
Our laboratories are well designed and attractive workplaces and our staff take pride in them. Nearly 1700 students take at least one science related subject, with a number of our seniors taking up to three. Running such a large Faculty effectively would not be possible without the skills and experience of our two technicians.
As you will see in the pages that follow, we offer a range of courses for a range of ability levels and interests. We are looking to instil into our Year 9 and 10 students an enjoyment of science and an appreciation of what it offers to them and contributes to society as a whole. Our senior courses are designed for students to gain qualifications under NCEA (and scholarship).
An enrichment programme for very able students has run for the past four years which has proven to be popular and very successful, with our senior science numbers strong and our results improving each year.
