Multi Cultural Community
In the space of 30 years New Zealand has been transformed from
mono-culturalism, through biculturalism and into a multi cultural
society. 60% of our school is made up of Caucasian New Zealanders,
20% are Maori New Zealanders and 20% are "other" New Zealanders.
There are more than 57 ethnicities in our school. with the most recent
arrivals being a small group from the African state of Congo.
Students at Fraser learn and grow up in a school where differences
are respected and treated with tolerance and understanding.
Student Leadership
There are many opportunities at Fraser for students to participate in
a leadership role. The Senior Council is made up of 30 elected and
appointed students, led by the Principal appointed Head Boy and Head
Girl.
There are ten Deputy Head students with responsibilities as Captains-in-
Charge of specific areas, and who lead a number of student councils
such as the Sports Council, the Visual and Performing Arts Council,
the International Student Council, the Maori Council, and the Pacifika Council.
In 2006 one of the Deputy Head Students was an International Student
from Taiwan.
A Junior School Council exists to develop our young leaders in Years
9 and 10, and to ensure the voice of our younger students is heard.
They plan and lead our Junior School Graduation Celebration.
A unique feature of Fraser is our SAFE Group - a group of over 120 students from all areas and levels of the school, who volunteer to contribute to a safe and harmonious school environment. When students feel a sense of ownership in their school, pride in themselves
and pride in their school is a natural progression.
"Fraser High School has top facilities and excellent
