# Note that the lower fee for the half-year July-November is for Year 11-13 students not wishing or needing to sit national examinations.  The Administration Fee remains $500.

2. Payment of Tuition Fee:

Full payment of the tuition and administration fee must be made prior to a visa being granted, and prior to commencing at the school.

NZ Immigration requires a student to have $10,000 living expenses as part of their application, but homestay fees can be considered part of these expenses.

3. Other Costs:

The following costs are not covered by the tuition fee and are the responsibility of the student:

  1. Uniform
A uniform will need to be purchased when the student arrives in New Zealand.  A new uniform will cost around NZ$400.  A second hand uniform will cost between NZ$200 and NZ$300.  These can be brought from the school Uniform Shop.

  2. Textbooks and Stationery
Subject textbooks are usually provided on loan free of charge to all students.  All students are responsible for providing their own workbooks, stationery and calculator etc.
  3. Examination/Qualifications Fees
There are no exam fees at Years 9 and 10.
National Exam (NCEA) fees (Years 11, 12 & 13 only) are $375 per year.

  4. Other Expenses
Field trips (generally from $5-$40 per trip).
Some subjects, especially Year 11-13 have additional fees to cover workbooks, materials etc. These are generally quite low ($10-$20) but in certain subjects can be high (eg Year 13 Outdoor Education ($240) & Sports Science ($220). All such fees are the responsibility of the student.

  5. Travel
Airport pick-up: $70 per trip (students are met at the airport and taken to homestay)
Weekly bus fares: $10-$15 per week (if student is not within walking distance of school)

4. Refund of Fees - Policy:

This is a summary of the Refunds Policy. The more detailed policy is available on request.

Tuition Fee
Should the applicant not come to New Zealand the tuition fee minus NZ$300 administration fee will be refunded to the applicant.

Once the student has started the course, refunds may be made in the first half of the course. A written application for a refund, giving reasons for wanting to withdraw, is required. If the application is accepted, expenses incurred by the school and an administration fee of $300 will be deducted. In the second half of the course a refund will be made only in special circumstances.

A student who wishes to withdraw from the school in order to attend another high school will not normally be entitled to a refund of tuition fees.  No refund will be made to a student who is suspended, expelled or excluded from the school.

Homestay Fee
All homestay fees not expended (minus two weeks notice) will be refunded.
