The Exceptional Talent Programme

How do Students Qualify for ETP?

Students need to be nominated for this programme. Every curriculum area has a Teacher Responsible for Gifted and Talented Education (TRFs) who liaise with classroom teachers on a regular basis discussing students who demonstrate high level potential or, in terms of sport, have been selected for representative teams. The names of these students are then passed to the ETP Co-ordinator for selection and acceptance.

What Other Opportunities are Available in ETP?

Every student within ETP is interviewed and goals are set, in consultation with parents, for their academic subjects, their talent area, and their personal development. The progression towards these goals is regularly monitored and discussed with the students, and parents as needed.

Students within each talent area meet regularly to discuss their needs within the area and action plans are developed to be given to the TRFs in each area to help the students progress forward.

Senior Visual and Performing Arts Students – These students benefit from establishing networks with community experts within their field who mentor them and work to give them expertise, guidance, and experiences that we cannot replicate at school.

Senior Sports Students – These students participate in the AUT SHINE Sport Programme. This focuses on providing individuals with an athlete tool kit of relevant skills, which inspire excellence in sport and education, to build industry capability and support sustainable development, and to raise awareness of career pathways and increase young sports people’s participation in tertiary education.
